Clicking on this image will take you to the beginings of an ArcView GIS project based on both the British map set and the Russian satellite photo.  The outlines of buildings as they existed in the 1920s were digitized from the British map sheets (shown in green) as were the roads, the banks of the Nile and neatlines.  Then the modern building outlines were digitized from the satellite photo(shown in black).  The resolution of the satellite image didn't allow very precise outlines for the modern buildings but this is a work in progress..
