This map is a composite of 11 sheets of the British Survey Map of Cairo scanned into Adobe Photoshop joined, cleaned up, and then color coded to represent buildings that have been destroyed  since the 1920s, in red, and buildings that are still standing, in green.  The determination of a buildings status was made by comparing the 1998 satellite photo with the overlay of the 1920s map. In many cases this was a guess that will be tested against field observation.   Click on the image to go to a high resolution version.
